The Power of Love

Eph 3:17-19 “And I pray that you, being rooted and established in love, may have power, together with all the saints, to grasp how wide and long and high and deep is the love of Christ, and to know this love that surpasses knowledge — that you may be filled to the measure of all the fullness of God.”
Our new birth is the beginning of our journey to know the One who loves us perfectly.
God is love and He consistently, patiently, and continuously pursues us even when we reject Him. His nature is unchanging.
I remember clearly the first time His love flooded my soul. I was at Pinecrest, a school of the Spirit in Upper New York state. I was sitting under a majestic pine, seeking the Lord. My heart yearned to know Him more intimately. Suddenly, His Presence flooded me. I felt Him lift a veil that had clouded my vision of His love for me.
Like most, I had tried to earn His love through performance and never felt good enough.
In that moment I experienced the incredible, unconditional love that He had for me. It transformed my life. His love became the anchor of my soul.
The fear of rejection began to crumble. It didn’t matter that I didn’t do it perfectly right anymore; He loved me unconditionally. That truth has transformed my life.
God’s love is unconditional and unchanging. Even as you read these words, if you have been doubting His love, let them wash over you. His love is not affected by your behaviour! It is unfailing. His love is unwavering, ever-present, and completely dependable. It cannot be exhausted or overused.
He knows every detail of your life: the good, bad, and the ugly, and you are still precious in His sight.
It is amazing to think that any sins we may commit can never diminish His love for us. His love is perfect.
His love heals and restores the brokenness that life has caused. Psalm 23 says that He restores my soul. We simply need to let Him in and receive that love.
Are you struggling with loneliness, rejection, and abandonment? Do you feel unlovely? I encourage you to reach out to Him right now. His perfect love will cast out the fear of rejection with which you have been dealing all your life. Hear Him say today: “Son, Daughter, I love you! I alone can make you whole”.
Questions to Ponder
- Do you ever doubt or struggle with God’s love for you? If so take a minute and ask the Holy Spirit what lie(s) you are believing about God’s love for you?
- If you hear a lie, simply repent of that lie and ask Jesus for the truth.
- Is it difficult to receive His love without first looking at your actions and behaviour and determining whether you deserve His love or not?
- If so, write out todays declaration and declare it by faith as it changes you.
