Perseverance wins again. Kurt Warner won Superbowl 34 beating the Tennessee Titans 23-16, but it almost never happened.
Kurt had been cut by two teams in the mid 90’s. He ended up working for his local department store stocking shelves.
He began playing for the Arena Bowl, a step down from the NFL in 1995. There he became an all-star in 1996 and 1997.
Warner was given another shot with the NFL’s, St. Louis Rams in 1998 because of his standout performances in the Arena League. However, the Rams sent him down to the European Football league, another demotion. There he led the league in passing yards and touchdowns. In 1999 warner made the Ram’s again, but as the second-string quarterback. However, he never gave up. The starting quarterback was out due to injury and Kurt led the Rams to a winning season ending in that Super Bowl 34 win. Kurt often credits his faith and family for his perseverance.
Can you imagine if Kurt would have allowed discouragement and disappointment to make his descions?
What a loss that would have been !
